Colon Cleansing, also known as colon therapy, covers a group of therapeutic medical therapies. These therapies are used to flush the body of fecal waste and toxic elements that become trapped in the intestinal system. Colon cleansing helps eliminates built-up waste on the walls of the intestine, to help remove parasites and other pathogens that cause health problems.
Colon cleaning can either be done with a hydrotherapy system (similar to an enema) or with a cleansing product you take orally:
- Colon Hydrotherapy: This is the use of enemas to introduce water into the colon. The water is usually mixed with other liquids (like coffee or wine) to provide better results. It requires special equipment to inject the water into the colon.
Colon cleansing has its origins based in early Egypt. The Egyptians understood that some food, after entering the digestive system, rots and creates toxic elements. These toxins can move from the intestines to the circulatory system, causing health problems. The early Greeks developed these ideas further and spreading them to the know world.
In the 19th century, research into the ancient Egyptians and Greeks methods started to prove their beliefs. These studies showed that toxins in the digestive system could shorten life and cause other medical problems. At this time, main stream medical doctors started to use a recommend the procedure.
In the 20th century, colon cleansing was replaced with drugs, to treat many digestion system problems. In recent years, colon cleansing has undergone resurgence, as a natural way to detoxify the body and treat some health problems, with the use of drugs and there side effects. |
